The incident took place Saturday, Nov. 21, when Newburgh Police were called to the area of 48 Lake Drive for a disturbance, said the City of Newburgh Police.
While officers were responding they were given a description of two black males, one wearing a white hooded sweatshirt and the other wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, police said.
The two men were reported as being involved and now leaving the area.
A Newburgh officer one of the men matching the description and attempted to stop him, but he fled on foot, police said.
Officers pursued the man and were able to apprehend him. During a search, police allegedly found a loaded Walther 9mm semi-automatic handgun and 23 glassine envelopes filled with a substance that tested positive for heroin, police said.
The man, identified as Tyron Nunes, of Newburgh was charged and drug and weapon-related charges, police said.
